Okay, "Valentine's Day" (2010) - I Have Thoughts!
So, I finally watched "Valentine's Day" from 2010. I know, I'm late to the party, but I'm on this classic movie journey, right? And rom-coms are definitely part of that. Honestly, I went in expecting something super cheesy, which… it was, but like, enjoyable cheesy? Ashton Kutcher was adorable as the florist, and I kind of loved the whole interconnectedness of everyone. Like, he's dating Jessica Alba but secretly in love with Jennifer Garner, who's dealing with Patrick Dempsey being married? It was a whole tangled web! I think my favorite storyline was probably Anne Hathaway and Topher Grace. It was a little messy, but I appreciated that it wasn't a perfectly polished relationship. Although, ngl, I was kinda yelling at the screen when she revealed what she was doing for a living... poor Topher! I also thought Jamie Foxx and Queen Latifah were surprisingly great together. Their friendship felt really genuine, even amidst all the manufactured Valentine's Day pressures. I'm def gonna check out more movies that those two are in together. There were definitely some moments that made me roll my eyes (like the Taylor Swift/Taylor Lautner thing felt a little… manufactured, if ya know what I mean haha). And I could have done without the whole Julia Roberts/Bradley Cooper airplane plot – it felt kind of detached from everything else. But overall, it was a fun, lighthearted watch. I'm not sure I'd watch it every Valentine's Day, but I think it's a good one to throw on when you just want something easy and feel-good. What did you all think when it first came out? Did I miss the hype train or was everyone else already over it, lol?
